PCRS ~ PACIFIC COAST REINING SPECTACULAR
The Pacific Coast Reining Spectacular (PCRS) is one of Australia's premier western performance equestrian events. Hosted annually by the Reining Queensland , the multi-day competition showcases elite horse-and-rider combinations navigating precise sliding stops, spins, and circles.
The Competition
Reining is a judged western discipline designed to show the athletic ability of a ranch-type horse. The PCRS is an official Reining Australia-approved event and features several major highlights:
-
The PCRS Derby: A premier feature class showcasing the nation's best 5- to 8-year-old reining horses, frequently boasting major prize pools.
-
Futurity Classes: Showcases younger horses, testing their foundational training and future potential.
-
National Qualifiers: Riders compete to qualify for the National Show and earn points toward prestigious year-end awards.
Event Experience
Beyond the competition arenas, the event features trade stalls, stallion promotions, and community events like celebrity rides and memorial tributes. It regularly draws competitors, breeders, and spectators from all over Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria.

The PCRS is traditionally held in June at the Gatton Lockyer Indoor Equestrian Centre in South East Queensland. The upcoming 2026 Pacific Coast Reining Spectacular runs from June 16 to June 20, 2026, offering four to five days of competition, camping, and trade events
